Fort Bragg Food Bank

Who Are They?

Fort Bragg Food Bank is a nonprofit organization who’s goal is to provide as much food as they can for people who need it. They also known as the Mendocino Food and Nutrition Program. They were founded in 1979 and located in Fort Bragg, California.

Ask

The Fort Bragg Food Bank needed helping tracking donations, storing those foods, and distributing the food to people. They wanted to be able track inventory not just by type of food, but also by weight. They were required to provide reports on inventory by weights. Therefore, they were looking for a system that could convert units of measure. Donations typically come in large quantities. But this food is divided into smaller units of measure to distribute. Therefore, they needed a system that made it easy to toggle back and forth between different units of measure. Being food products, they could not just get any inventory software. They needed something that could track lot, batches, and expiration dates.

Answer

Flowtrac serves many food banks, so this was not an unfamiliar scenario for Flowtrac. We helped them catalogue the products and upload their growing list of donors and recipients of the food they distribute. Fort Bragg uses the software to run the reports she needs to be able to show the movement of product. The FB Food Bank is able to tell donors how much they’ve donated and where and to whom it was sent.

And the live data on how much food they’re sending to the community is not just for eyes of the donors. Donors get visibility on the good they are doing for those in need.

FB Food Bank uses the Flowtrac software to calculate the pounds of food they’ve served each day, week, month, and year. They display the running count on the landing page of the website.

But it’s not just the data analysis and reports in Flowtrac that helped Mendocino. Flowtrac improved the warehouse management. Mendocino is able to create receive and pick orders from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Because of this, they were able to remain operational throughout the covid-19 pandemic, when people needed food more than ever.

Fort Bragg’s review of Flowtrac:

“Flowtrac really is fully customizable, every feature that I have needed in order to have an accurate count and reporting for the State and other entities has been done.

Cons: It can be scary switching to a new system not knowing what is to come, and for reports and will this product work.

Overall: It’s been great getting things on track, doing reports and having trainings. I like the chat feature for quick questions.”
